| he is an alternate history writer that has written several series and some stand alone books. one series is based on WWII except that aliens attack in the midst of the war. there is 3-4 books (still havent finished the series) in the first installment. then there is a second trilogy that goes into what happens afterwards. he has also written two books that are on the civil war. people from the future go back in time to the confederacy and give the confederacy tech from the future. |

I know the one is "Guns of the South" and I think the other is "World War".
In Guns of the South, some Confederate sympathizers from our time decide to assist the South by sending them Uzis and such. Obviously, history changes.
In the World War series, it is the midst of WWII when all of a sudden some aliens come expecting an easy conquest since their last information showed us in the Middle Ages. We are not as easy to conquer as they think. |

| yep that is the one. sorry i just looked it up that is the only one. the other one is how few remain where the confederates won the civil war but without the help of time travelers. that book is followed by the great war trilogy, the american empire trilogy, and then the settling accounts series. |

He has another large series where aliens invade earth during WW2.
It's actually rather entertaining and funny as these star hopping aliens figure out we humans are simply too hardheaded to realize we are overmatched and should surrender. Instead we just keep grinding them down and keeping them supremely pissed off. |

One of my favorite Turtledove altenate histories is Agent of Byzantium.
The adventures of an Imperial agent, Basil Argyros, in the early 14th Century.
Harry also has a two-volume series out on WW2 - Pacific.
1. Days of Infamy
2. End of the Beginning
The Japanese launch the third air-strike on Hawaii and then... follow up with an invasion. |

He also has another alternate-history series: Crosstime Traffic. It's set on Earth around 50 years or so in the future. Some brilliant scientists discover a way to access Alternates, or Earths with alternate history. They start a buissness, Crosstime Traffic to deal with all the obvious/semi-obvious exploitation schemes (oil drilling where humans never evolved, etc.). The series follows agents in the more backward Earths and their various happenings. Very awesome.
