Character development...

For those that are playing the test-game... you might consider fleshing-out your game character.

For an example... look at my sig.

You might also consider adding a face to your game persona:

Brf and his PS abilities could probably modify these images into new ones :D

Let's make all the tourists think that they are missing out on something

You are also encouraged to change the names of the countries you control. Just type in a new name and click the "Update Country" button.

But ... but ... but ... it won't let me change the names! And it is still complaining about cockroaches in the machine!

Brf, since the game is styled as an RPG... what are your plans to develop this element?

Is your intent to leave the RPG-portion of the game... to the in-game message system only?

What type of character should future players of the next game... be looking to develop?

Vibrant RPG-play, viewable to non-players, would be the best "recruitment" tool available

I dont know.... it is more fun having a storyline here in the forum.... but it can be done with the in-game messages too.

I see the in-game message system as where players wheel-n-deal, plot, conspire, betray, backstab... with each other.

A public role-play board is primarily for the touristas. In the past, the RP has not really had any effect on a game.

This is just a wild thought... mull it over.

I seem to remember that the phpBB game package came with this "money" option. You can insert certain "events" on a board that allows a poster/player to earn or lose "money"... by what they post.

What if this feature was used... so players could acquire money to purchase additional units, loan or give to other players, use as bribes, etc. This would tie the two sides of the game... together.

Like I said, it is just a wild thought.

The RP portion of the game is lagging... as usual.

I know with myself, unless others are posting... I tend to lose interest.

I was wondering about allowing members who are not "active" players... to participate in the RP.

I can think of a couple of characters... right now.

Example #1

What if one of our fantastic female members wanted to be the Duchess... of a ambitious Duke :D

Example #2

Let's say Eddy wanted to play a rambling bard and travel from village to village, town to town and keep to keep... with Petey perched on his shoulder. The bard would post comments on their travels through-out the kingdom.

Travaling minstrels were valued highly... for the gossip and dirt they knew

I see no problems with letting others post in the roleplay.

Just curious... I assume that there is no restriction on who can post in the RP thread.

This is a link to the hard-core medieval role-players... the SCA :D

http://www.sca.org/

It is fortunate that armor is the norm for their 'battles." These guys go at it like hockey players  :)
