This is an interesting question I've been thinking of in my head.
How do you think interplanetary warfare will work?
Do you think it will consist of capital ships bombarding the planet?
Maybe landing parties landing?
A combination?
Give your take. |

Well, it isn't realistic, but I've been inspired by lousy sci-fi so I'll play.
Honestly, the easiest way to defeat the Earth would be to simply grab a few chunks of asteroids and give them a good healthy heave in our direction. Wait maybe twenty years for the dust to settle, and there you go. One planet, ready to colonize. |

| I dunno..... Dont you think it would be more profitable to infiltrate the leadership and take it over intact? |

| It depends. Are you looking to exploit the mineral wealth of the planet or use it for colonizing? If it is simple wealth/commerce you are looking for, then yes, it would be much better to simply infiltrate. If it is long term colonizing, then exterminating the obnoxious natives is better. |

You need not use asteroids.
Take a block of steel around the size of a semi-truck and drop it from orbit.
You get a kinetic weapon that rivals a huge nuke without the radiation.
A few of those dropped from orbit would level Washington DC, the Pentagon, and the surrounding military and government centers. |

Depends. Are they as nasty as humans?
Noisy, needy, rebellious?
Better to kill them and drop in our own slackers. |

| Slavery? Honestly, slavery doesn't work. That is why it doesn't exist in civilized countries. It simply makes better economic sense not to have slaves. With slaves, you need to care for them, feed them, clothe them, house them, and keep a guard on them to ensure they don't escape. With capitalism you have a much better view. You can "hire" a person who will feed themselves, clothe themselves, house themselves, and best of all, you don't have to guard them. Their fear of being unemployed and starving will ensure that they will work for the 5.15 an hour you are paying them. If they are illegals, you can pay them a buck an hour and if they get uppity, you get the joy of reporting them to the INS. Slavery is far more expensive than capitalism even if basically it is the same thing. |

That's because you are thinking about humans.
What if the species was like the family/alpha leader mindset of the canine?
Slavery is a human term based on our desire to run free and wild so as to trash the hotel room like a rock star. |

I wonder what intellegent life there is out there.
Anyways, how do you see a planetary invasion being carried out?
I can't really see it happening.
I can't see landing parties being too feesible, as there would be too much ground to cover. (at least in the beginning)
Maybe some smaller forays to sabotage military instalations/ assasinate leaders.
I could see possibally bombarding the poplulance into submission, then putting troops on the ground. |

Oh yes, that's the key. Control the gravity well and bomb with impunity.
It's how America already does war. The opposition is left with only insurgency to retaliate. |
