Joe, this one is for you.
New series coming out on the CW/WB/whatever the network's name is, these days.
Legend of the Seeker is an epic fantasy written by a man who is an Ayn Rand follower.
I know you usually aren't much into fantasy, but give this a chance, and see what you think.
After a few episodes, you'll also better understand the 'worship' of you that I provided in the Memories thread. <ggg>
Most places, it is being broadcast on Saturday or Sunday night. First night is a two hour premier, then its a weekly series.
If it lives up to the book, it will be quite a show! If it doesn't, it will most likely still be pretty good. |

No, I actually really despise fantasy. Wizards on tv also bugs the snot out of me. Not sure how to get out of a fix with the plot? Create a handy spell!
Last time I was watching fantasy on tv was with Charmed and I was only doing that to watch the ass. Even that wasn't enough after awhile.
I hate to say it, but the last tv fantasy that held its own water, imo, was Buffy.
Other than LOTR I avoid movie fantasy as well. No Narnia or Harry Potter for me.
Besides, I watch too much tv already. |

This could be better than Buffy. Give the premiere a try ... if it sucks, no need to watch more. If it is fabulous, you have something to enjoy. Why not?
You'll do what you do, but what is the harm of watching a few minutes of the premiere to see if it grabs you? |

If magic is the prominent theme then I'll pass.
Fantasy where magic is minimal and rare might pass muster. |

Well, I can no longer recommend this for Joe.
While this show might be a pretty good show for your basic fantasy nut, it diverges too vastly from the source material in ways that dilute the story and the intelligence with which it was written.
It may still be a good show, and I may still continue to watch it, but it is missing too much of what it needs for me to try and convince Joe to give it a try.
(Not that he listened to me anyway.) |
