Time for me to put photobucket to the curb!
I like to make "cheesecake" threads at the alliances I hang out at in the CN game. Glamor, fitness, and lingerie pictures of women. The alliances are mostly populated with young males and these threads are quite popular. It helps boost my popularity in the game.
Looking at the girls is no burden for me either. ;)
This is actually a bit time consuming collecting, labeling, sizing, and hosting a collection of shots for each woman.
Problem is photobucket and their G rated paranoia about these images. If the bra is a little too sheer and you can vaguely see the outline of a nipple they go nuts and delete the picture. Or if a thong gets wedged too tight as well. I'm not trying to post up real nudity and never anything pornographic, but they still are worse than 1960's tv censors! Worse is they don't have a dedicated censor crew. The crew changes frequently, along with the standards. A picture in my portfolio will be fine for two months and suddenly get deleted for being too graphic by their standards. They make a hash out of things when they comb through my folders as well.
I'm tired of dealing with them.
I need new image hosting that isn't so prudish.
I also need them to be big enough and legit enough not to go out of business because the accountants or lawyers shut them down.
I need to be able to hotlink directly from my folders too. None of this linkthrough or thumbnail stuff to save their precious bandwidth.
I don't want to deal with shady porn hosting either. Just a place where a sheer bra doesn't cause everyone to have conniptions.
I've just seen Flickr image hosting recently. Don't know much other than they permit nude photos, but also work the mainstream line as well.
Anyone dealt with them yet? Or have dealings with an image hosting group not run by convent nuns? |

Why do you need to bother with a host? With a little knowledge of file upload methods, you can host them here on your own domain...
Is it the fancy categories and stuff you would get with imageshack and such?
FYI, alot of those online albums are included in content filters. I cannot see most of those from work, for instance. |

Try Google's Picasa, it includes editing and uploading software.
From the TOS: You understand that by using Picasa Web Albums you may be exposed to Content that is offensive, indecent or objectionable, and that you use Picasa Web Albums at your own risk. |

yeah, I'd say use google web albums or hots it yourself. google has dealt with lawyers before, and that disclaimer pretty much would shut up any lawyer anyway.
by the way, Brf, I suspect that one reason he doesn't want to host them here is a) the bandwidth. several thousand photos are likely to be one hell of a bandwidth hog. b) space. I don't know what the space available on the s3erver is like, but again, several thousand pictures are likely to take up something in the order of gigabytes. |

| We have plenty of space, and pcitures only take up bandwidth while someone is looking at them. |

| yeah, but we're looking at potentially a thread with the pictures in in several forums ( the DOOM forums plus the TAB forums at least, and I suspect Zeke has threads like it at other alliances) which are between fairly active to highly active, so you are still looking at a lot of bandwidth. |

We only have 700 meg of storage here. My average picture is 50K.
I already have over 2200 photos or over 100 meg after five months of doing this. I would tap our storage capacity dry within a couple years at most. And that would leave nothing for CD or CD/CN in which to grow.
So I'm not doing it here.
Imageshack is out too. They don't allow hotlinking.
I'll look into Picassa, Nibby.
But I'm still curious about fickr if anyone has heard anything. |

No to Picassa. It's merely a storage extention of the google image program for your pc. Don't want to deal with all that extra software.
I found these two:
http://www.imgplace.com/
http://imagevenue.com/
Anyone know them or have an opinion? |

| I don't understand your terms, the words you're using, in regards to Picasa. It's online storage, I know several people who use it, I can go to their albums and galleries whenever I want, not just when they're online, and they can have the posts show up in any posts on forums. |

| Ah, ok. It's the only reliable hosting site I know of that won't get huffy over the nudies. You have to decide what's important. |
