btw Tribeca..i had to leave Ely for some personal reasons. Theyre no issue anymore now, but now im all settled in SOL, so i dont wanna leave anymore. I dont care much for the politics.. i dont care who i kill or get killed by, as long as i get to kill stuff.. or stonewall :)

Man I havn't played earth last two sets i need to start up again.

What alliance you want? Seeing as there is nearly 4 or 5 servers, and each one has a vast amount of alliances, and while some servers have alliances that seem to have the same people on each server, not every allaince is going to be the same on each server even if it has the same people.

Blah maybe it's better if Tribes or Darky tell ya.

With the risk of JuntaJoe splitting this off to a new thread, I will reply to that question too :P.

Currently the biggest and most active server is the 'Earth Council' server. It is moderated by active admins, who continously check for cheaters etc. It is also the server with the biggest wars and the strongest politics.

What alliance you join depends on your own preferences. There's alliances that give you a guaranteed war every set, some will netgain as much as they can, and theres a line of alliances that do whatever comes to their path.
If you want to learn to play the game well, youre best off joining one of the bigger alliances (SOL, Rival, Elysium, TIE, IX, SOF) as they have better training programmes than most others.
If you care about more about community and making friends, you should look for the more midsized ones, as they often have a more intimate playing environment.

Well if you really wanna know more, you can try to catch me on one of my listed messangers and ill tell you everything you want to know! :)

And I am not as biased as to recruit you to my own alliance if i know thats not the right place for you.

(Consider coming to SOL anyway :P)

I probably will. how do you join an alliance anyway? and do you need to fill in all the fields on the registration form ( I HATE giving out my real name)

EDIT- as for what kind of alliance I would want- good training, and community feel to it as well, if possible. preferably one big enough to avoid constant wars until i know what I'm doing.

well s_stabeler, allow me to put a plug in for elysium :)

Darkness is right in that joining one of the larger alliances is the best way to learn the game (I'd say that Darkness missed Rage in that list), but in Elysium you'll also get the community feel of a smaller alliance. While Ely was over 120 members when I joined in the winter of '05, we're now about 50 members. So we're definately midsize, while still offering the training program of a larger alliance. All of our trainees go through at least one set (two months) in Praxeum, playing alongside other people learning the game (we have about a dozen trainees at the moment). Praxeum has 6-8 leaders who supervise all the trainees countries, give advice, and teach the basics of the game. Once you graduate from Prax, we have 4 councils you can choose from, depending on your preferences. You'll continue to get advice and help there. We have dedicated hitters (for killing people who mess with us during netting sets), spies, netters, and something in between.

We've also got a good community going. I'm actually fairly new to it myself, having joined only 20 months ago. Many of our current members were founders of Ely over 5 years ago, and at least half of the alliance has been around for as long or longer than I have.

I can't *promise* you that we'll be netting next set (starting July 1), as we're warring now. But if I had to guess, I'd say we'll be netting for a bit after this. In fact, if you were to join in the next week or so you'd probably be able fidle around with a country without too much worry, as while we're still technically in a war we've totally crushed our enemy. We can FA (Foreign Aid) your country out of range of them so they can't kill you, and you'll be free to learn the game without fear of getting killed. Unless SOL or somebody decides to join the fight, but I think that isn't likely at this point (/wink at darkness) :P

Also, if you join, I'll personally supervise your training :) I'm not the *best* player we have, but I do design most of the strategies we run each set, so I know what I'm doing :D I've finished in the top 10 before, and I'm typically one of Ely's biggest breakers (if not THE biggest) each time we war.

Anyway, you can go to elysium.earthstats.net to apply if you want. Give my name as your referrer. And no, you don't have to give your real name. My profile still doesn't have my real name in it, and I'm...I guess the 4th ranked person in the alliance.

Oh, and ExarKun and Darkness are both former members, so you can get their opinions as well :)
